OF THE SOUTHERN BISCUIT
Maryann Byrd is a journalist based in Nashville who wrote, directed and
produced The Rise of the Southern Biscuit as her first independent film project. The film won two regional Emmy’s for writing and cultural documentary and also won three Telly awards for music, cultural
program, and outstanding documentary.
She believes the Southern biscuit
encompasses the most unique thing about the South: Southern Hospitality.
Her mission is to revive the art of
homemade biscuit making.
“I’ve seen in my work, how a simple homemade biscuit is a loving gesture that builds better relationships between
families and loved ones.”
Join Maryann for a screening of her film and instruction on how to make a Southern biscuit. Students will leave with a recipe and a biscuit!
