Genealogy Seminar
Featuring J. Mark Lowe, CG, FUGA

DISCOVERING THE RECORDS OF TENNESSEE, KENTUCKY & WHISKEY STILLS
Learn about the wonderful records that tell the story of our Kentucky &
Tennessee Ancestors.   Understand why our Ancestors were searching for limestone-filtered flowing springs and abundant fruit and grain.   Discover the Kentucky & Tennessee record groups that will help tighten migration travel routes and destinations.  
FEE:  $35 per person includes lunch and hands-on worksheets.  

Mark is a full-time professional
genealogist, author and teacher who
researches primarily in original records and manuscripts throughout the South. He is an instructor for the IGHR (Samford
University’s renowned school of genealogy in Birmingham, AL) and the Salt Lake
Institute of Genealogy UGA, Director of the Regional In-depth Genealogical Studies Alliance (RIGS Alliance), a Fellow of the
Utah Genealogical Association (FUGA)
and was awarded the
APG – Grahame T. Smallwood Jr. Award.

OF THE SOUTHERN BISCUIT
Maryann Byrd is a journalist based in Nashville who wrote, directed and
produced The Rise of the Southern Biscuit as her first independent film projectThe film won two regional Emmy’s for writing and cultural documentary and also won three Telly awards for music, cultural
program, and outstanding documentary. 
  She believes the Southern biscuit
encompasses  the  most unique thing about the South:  Southern Hospitality. 
Her mission is to revive the art of
homemade biscuit making. 
 “I’ve seen in my work, how a simple homemade biscuit is a loving gesture that builds better relationships between
families and loved ones.”

Join Maryann for a screening of her film and instruction on how to make a Southern biscuit. Students will leave with a recipe and a biscuit!

Spinsters will teach you about fiber and drafting and how to spin on a drop spindle.

Learn creative techniques using the Big Shot and the Petal Cone die.  In class, you will create four projects - 3 unique cards and a treat box!  Beginner (who wants
to learn more) to intermediate level skills required.

Please bring basic supplies
(bone folder, scissors, adhesive and paper trimmer with score blade) with you to class.

You know brined pickles as dill pickles, sauerkraut, kimchi and pickled peppers. Joan will show a      quicker and simpler way to make brined pickles with
results just as tasty and rich in probiotics.
